Meet our Centre Manager

Hello, my name is Kate Whelan and I am the Centre Manager for Aussie Kindies Early Learning Sunbury. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management along with my Diploma in Children’s Services. I have been in the Early Education and Care industry for 16 years. I love this industry because it allows me to make a difference in children’s and families' lives and help shape the lives of the people of our future.

When I joined Affinity Education Group three of their values interested me - having serious fun, being completely connected, and building shining stars. These resonated the most with me because I love having fun and being connected with people from all different aspects of life and am passionate about building the team around me to be the best they can be.

The passion for building my team to be the best they can be leads to the passion we have for working closely with families and building those connections to ensure we all work together to enable your child to have the best possible start to their learning and development, whilst having serious fun.

Lifelong Learning Starts Here!

At Aussie Kindies Early Learning, we’re proud to deliver Affinity Education’s exclusive Lifelong Learning Curriculum - Australia’s most advanced approach to early childhood education, thoughtfully designed to nurture each child’s unique potential. Inspired by the best practices of Montessori and Reggio Emilia, our curriculum is enriched with contemporary research, including attachment theory, the Circle of Security, language development from the Abecedarian approach, and Project-Based Learning. The result is a balanced, holistic learning experience tailored to support every child’s growth.

Aligned with Australia's Early Years Learning Framework, the Lifelong Learning Curriculum is carefully structured for three age groups: babies, toddlers, and 3-5 year olds. Each stage builds seamlessly on the last, culminating in a school readiness program that instils confidence, curiosity, and essential skills for success in primary school and beyond.

At Aussie Kindies, we are dedicated to creating a warm, nurturing environment where your child can flourish. Discover how we combine quality early education with genuine care to help your little one thrive every day.

Healthy Beginnings

Babies aged 0-1 years

Your baby will start their lifelong learning journey with us in a safe, nurturing environment. Educators will:

  • Develop strong, positive bonds;
  • Encourage confidence to explore new surroundings;
  • Spark curiosity through sensory experiences; and
  • Establish helpful routines that support health and wellbeing.

Early Experiences

Toddlers aged 1-3 years

Your toddler will enjoy an exciting environment in which to explore and experiment as their confidence and social skills emerge. Educators will:

  • Introduce literacy and numeracy through learning games;
  • Support self expression through language skills; and
  • Develop social and friendship skills in group settings.

School Readiness

Children aged 3-5 years

Your child will be given the very best start before they begin primary school at Aussie Kindies! Educators will:

  • Guide self-awareness, self-help skills and socialisation;
  • Investigate literacy, mathematics, science, technology and the arts;
  • Stimulate creativity, deeper thinking and problem solving; and
  • Prepare children for classroom environments through play-based preschool and kindergarten programs.
At our childcare centre, we offer a government-approved kindergarten program (also known as preschool in some states) combined with long day care, blending early education and care under one roof.

Taught by a bachelor-qualified teacher, our school readiness program helps children build the essential skills for a smooth transition to primary school. Through play-based learning and meaningful interactions, children develop confidence, social skills, and a love of learning.

With extended care hours and a nurturing environment, our kindergarten/preschool program supports your child’s academic and emotional growth while preparing them for ‘big school’ and lifelong success.
