Starting childcare is a big deal, for your child and for you. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves, and we want you to know that we’re here every step of the way.
At Aussie Kindies, we take the time to get to know every child and family individually, so the transition into care feels as warm and comfortable as possible.
Every Child Settles in Their Own Time
Some kids settle quickly. Others take a little longer, and that’s perfectly okay. Our educators are patient, caring and experienced in supporting children through this transition. There’s no rush, and no pressure.
If your child (or you!) experience any worry or distress, please reach out to your Centre Manager or educator. We’re always happy to chat and help find what works best for your family.
Tips to Help Your Child Feel at Home
- Attend a Stay and Play session - Before your child’s official start date, you’re welcome to come along to a free Stay and Play session. It’s a great way to explore the room, meet the educators and help your child get familiar with the environment before day one.
- Stay for a little while at first - On the first few days, you’re welcome to hang around and play with your child before you head off. Getting them started on an activity before you leave can make saying goodbye a little easier.
- Bring something familiar - A favourite toy, blanket, dummy or family photo can make a big difference in helping your child feel settled and secure.
- Always say goodbye - As tempting as it is to sneak out, always say a proper goodbye. It builds trust and helps your child know that you’ll always come back.
- Keep your drop-off routine consistent - Kids love knowing what to expect. A simple, consistent routine - a hug, a wave, a little phrase - helps them settle in faster.
- Connect with your child’s educator - When children see their parents being friendly and relaxed with their educators, it helps them feel safe too. A warm handover each morning sets everyone up for a good day.
- Call us anytime - If you’re wondering how your child is going, just give us a ring. We’re always happy to share how they’re settling in and pass on any little moments that might put your mind at ease.

Starting childcare is the beginning of a wonderful new adventure, filled with new friends, new experiences and lots of fun. Most children grow to absolutely love their time at Aussie Kindies, and we can’t wait to welcome your family.
