Supporting a Smooth and Gentle Start to Your Child’s Early Learning Journey
We know that starting child care can feel like a big step, whether it’s your child’s first time in care or just a new environment. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions as your family adjusts to this new chapter.
At Aussie Kindies, we’re here to make the transition gentle, supported, and positive - for both you and your child. With nurturing educators and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, we’ll help your little one settle in and feel right at home.
Every Child Settles in Their Own Time
Just like every child is different, every settling-in journey is too. Some children adjust quickly, while others may take a bit more time - and that’s absolutely okay.
Our caring educators take the time to get to know your child, build trust, and create a calm and secure environment where they feel safe, seen, and supported.
If you have any concerns or if your child is feeling unsettled, please speak with your Centre Manager or your child’s educator. We’re here to listen, help, and guide you through every step of the way.
Tips to Help Your Child Settle In
Come for a Stay and Play - Before your child officially starts, you’re welcome to attend a free Stay and Play session. It’s a great opportunity to explore the room together, meet the educators, and help your child begin to feel comfortable in the new space.
Take it slow - You’re welcome to stay a little longer on the first day, or the first few days. Helping your child start an activity before saying goodbye can ease the nerves for both of you.
Bring a comfort item - A favourite toy, dummy, blanket, or even a family photo can provide comfort and reassurance during the day. Familiar objects help little ones feel more secure.
Always say goodbye - It might feel easier to slip out unnoticed, but saying a proper goodbye builds trust and helps your child learn that you’ll always come back.
Keep the routine familiar - Children love routines - it helps them feel safe and in control. Try to keep your morning drop-off consistent with the same goodbye ritual, whether it’s a wave from the window or a special hug.
Build a connection with Educators - When your child sees you chatting warmly with their educators, it helps them feel more confident and secure. We love getting to know families - it makes our community even stronger.
Call us anytime - Wondering how your child is going? Just give us a call! We’re always happy to check in and let you know how their day is unfolding.
