Transitioning to a New Room

A Positive and Supported Step Forward

Moving up to a new room is a big and exciting moment in your child’s early learning journey. At Aussie Kindies, we make sure every transition is handled with care, at your child’s pace, with plenty of support for your whole family along the way.

How We Know Your Child is Ready

Every child develops differently, and we never rush a transition. Our educators assess readiness by looking at:

  • Social and emotional development
  • Communication skills
  • Independence and self-help abilities
  • Engagement with learning experiences
  • Physical development and confidence in movement

We’re watching and supporting your child every day, and we’ll always talk with you before any move happens.

How We Support the Transition

  • We talk with you first - Your child’s educator will have a chat with you about how they’re going, answer any questions and give you a clear timeline of what to expect.
  • We take it step by step - Your child will start with short visits to the new room, getting to know new educators and friends gradually. We increase the time slowly until they feel comfortable and settled.
  • We keep you updated - You’ll hear from us regularly throughout the transition so you’re always in the loop.

How You Can Help at Home

  • Talk positively about the new room and what fun things might be waiting for them
  • Encourage independence - things like getting dressed, making small choices and managing their belongings
  • Read books about new beginnings and change to help your child feel curious and ready

Every Transition is a Celebration

At Aussie Kindies, moving to a new room is something to be proud of. It means your child has grown, and there’s so much more fun ahead. We’ll be right there with them every step of the way.
