CCS & the 3 Day Guarantee: Simple Answers for Aussie Kindies Families in 2026

Over the last few weeks, we’ve had many Aussie Kindies families reach out with questions about the upcoming Child Care Subsidy (CCS) changes, especially the new 3 Day Guarantee starting in January 2026.

If you’re wondering what this means for your child, your routine or your weekly fees, you’re not alone. These changes are designed to support families, but we know they can still feel confusing.

This guide explains everything in a warm, straightforward way, with the answers Aussie Kindies families are asking right now.

1. Do I need to apply for the 3-Day Guarantee?

In most cases, no.

If you’re already eligible for CCS, the 3 Day Guarantee will be applied automatically by Services Australia.

There is one important step you’ll need to complete:

Confirm your 2024-25 family income when Services Australia asks you to.

It’s quick, but it makes sure your CCS continues without any disruptions.

And if you need help, just let your Centre Manager know - we’re always happy to walk families through it.

2. What happens if my child already attends 3, 4 or 5 days?

Nothing changes in a negative way. The 3-Day Guarantee simply adds security.

If your work or study hours ever reduce or fluctuate, you won’t suddenly lose access to three subsidised days.

Your child keeps the same routine they’re already comfortable with, and you keep the support you rely on.

3. Can my child attend more than 3 days?

Absolutely.

The 3 Day Guarantee is a minimum, not a limit.

If your child attends 4 or 5 days, the first 72 hours will fall under the guarantee, and the rest will be subsidised the same way they are now, based on your regular CCS percentage.

So if a full week works best for your family, nothing about that needs to change.

4. Will this make childcare more affordable for our family?

For many families who currently only receive one subsidised day, yes, this change can really help.

For families already using multiple days, the biggest benefit is peace of mind:

  • fewer surprises
  • less stress about losing subsidised days
  • more stability when planning your week

If you’d like a clearer picture of how this might affect your fees in 2026, your Centre Manager can give you a personalised estimate.

5. Should we secure our days for 2026 now?

If you’re thinking about increasing or changing days next year, it’s a good idea to start the conversation early.

January is always a busy time for new bookings, and with more families becoming eligible for additional subsidised days, demand will likely increase.

Even a simple message like: “We’re thinking about adding a day in 2026,” helps us plan ahead and gives you the best chance of securing your preferred days.

Nursery and toddler rooms tend to fill fastest, so touching base early is a big help.
