On Wednesday 2 September, Australia celebrates Early Childhood Educators' Day(opens in new tab), recognising the people who care for and educate our youngest children. This year's theme, The Future Starts With Us, points to something simple but true: the educators in your local centre are shaping what comes next. It's been a big year for early education in Australia, and today is about the people who've kept showing up for our community through all of it.
At Aussie Kindies, our educators are part of the local community, people your children see every day, who know their names, their routines and their favourite games before they've even taken off their shoes at drop-off.
What makes the difference
Qualifications matter, and every one of our educators brings genuine training and experience to their role. But what families notice most is often something else: the educator who remembers a child had a hard morning and checks in gently, the one who spots a new skill before a parent does, the familiar face that makes a big room feel a little smaller.
These are the everyday moments that build trust between a family and a centre.
Part of the neighbourhood
Many Aussie Kindies educators live locally, send their own children to the same schools your child will start at, and see families around town outside of drop-off and pick-up. That familiarity matters. It means an educator isn't just managing a room of children, they understand the local school transitions, the community events families take part in, the rhythms of the area your family calls home. It's part of what makes a centre feel less like an institution and more like an extension of your own neighbourhood.
Tell us about your educator
This Educators' Day, we're inviting families to share a thank you for the educators who've made a difference to their child. You don't need to post it on social media for it to matter - let your centre know directly, or share a note via Storypark.
Affinity Education's CEO, Glen Hurley, shared a message for Educators' Day this year - see it here(opens in new tab).
To every educator at Aussie Kindies: thank you for the care you bring to your community, every day. If their work has ever inspired you to consider a career alongside them, you can explore opportunities on our Careers page.
And if you're looking for a centre near you, you can find one here.
The future starts with you.
Early Childhood Educators' Day is a national initiative of the Australian Childcare Alliance, held on the first Wednesday of September each year.
