As the mornings get a little cooler and jumpers start coming out, autumn brings a comforting change to our daily routines.
At Aussie Kindies Early Learning, that seasonal shift is reflected in the meals we share with children each day - warm, nourishing food that keeps little bodies happy, full, and ready for a big day of play and learning.
Food That Supports Busy Little Days
We know how much children grow, move, and learn in a single day, which is why good nutrition is so important.
Each day at Aussie Kindies, children enjoy:
- A balanced breakfast
- Morning tea
- A warm, nutritious lunch
- Afternoon tea
Our meals are filled with colourful veggies, fresh fruit, whole grains, quality proteins, plant-based options, dairy (and alternatives), and healthy fats, all designed to keep energy levels steady and support growing bodies.
What’s New This Autumn
This season, we’ve refreshed our menu in partnership with The Biting Truth, Accredited Practising Dietitians who specialise in early childhood nutrition.
Together, we’ve created meals that are:
- Nutritious and balanced
- Practical for busy kitchens
- Loved by children
- Designed to gently introduce new flavours
This autumn, you’ll notice:
- A mix of familiar meals with new flavours to explore
- Iron-rich options to support development
- Balanced vegetarian meals using ingredients like legumes and tofu
- Plenty of fruit and vegetables for colour, fibre and goodness
- Textures designed with young children in mind
- Fun, nourishing afternoon teas
What Might Be on the Menu?
Our autumn menu is full of comforting, family-style meals that children really enjoy, including:
- Chicken biryani
- Beef meatball ratatouille pasta
- Chicken, ricotta and pumpkin mac and cheese
- Cinnamon pear with yoghurt and crunchy bran
- Oaty slice served with crunchy vegetables
These meals are designed to feel familiar and comforting, while helping children build confidence trying new foods.
For Every Child, Every Family
We know every family is different, and food is an important part of that.
Our menus are inclusive and cater to a range of dietary needs, including vegetarian and halal options. We work closely with families to make sure every child is supported safely and respectfully.
Mealtimes That Feel Positive and Relaxed
At Aussie Kindies, mealtimes are about more than just eating.
They’re a chance for children to sit together, chat, try new foods, and build independence in a calm, supportive environment.
And something we hear all the time from families? “They eat things at childcare they won’t even try at home!” You’re definitely not alone.
Bringing a Little of That Home
If mealtimes at home sometimes feel a bit... unpredictable, here are a few simple things that can help:
- Keep offering, even if it’s refused: It can take time (and a few tries!) before children accept new foods.
- Stick to familiar favourites with a small twist: A pasta with added veggies or a mild curry can be a great place to start.
- Get your child involved: Even small jobs like stirring or choosing between two options can make a big difference.
- Take the pressure off: A relaxed, positive approach often works best.
Over time, these little moments add up and help children feel more confident with food.
One Less Thing to Worry About
We know how busy family life can be, especially during the cooler months.
Knowing your child is enjoying warm, balanced meals each day can make things just a little easier, and give you confidence they’re being well cared for while they learn and grow.
